Armenian Basket Flower Culture
Centaurea macrocephala
Light: full sun
Soil: well drained, light
Bloom Time: Early summer. Will repeat bloom if kept dead-headed
Height: 3 to 4 feet
Plant in spring or fall. Very rugged!
Produces large quantities of 3 inch thistle-like flowers and are superb in fresh or dried arrangements.
Very popular with crafters and dried flower arrangers! Blooms in late spring
and summer. Grows 3-4 feet tall. Best for forgotten or hard to reach areas in
the garden because established plants are drought resistant and almost
indestructible. No known pests. Flowers attract butterflies and
humming birds. Space 36".
Deadheading right after bloom will extend bloom season and may induce late season rebloom.
Divide every three to five years in early spring.
Winter hardy to zone 3.
