Bold, Beautiful, Flowering Shrub

Grow as a shrub or cut it back each year to grow as a perennial! The rich, purple leaf color does not fade in summer, but actually gets darker! Almost looks black! |
Excellent for use as a specimen, screen or informal hedge. Zones 4-8 Height: 8-12 feet Spread: 8 feet. May be kept smaller with pruning.

Pest and disease free and deer do not seem to bother this plant. Full sun to partial shade. Fruit is edible.

Growing Tips
Best in moist soil although will tolerate dry soils. Thrives under acid
or alkaline soils. Best if pruned immediately after blooming. Sets buds
the summer prior to blooming. Like high moisture. Deciduous shrub.
Fertilize in early spring by applying a slow release fertilizer
specialized for trees and shrubs. Follow the label for the recommended
rate of application.

Uses
Grow either as a shrub or cut it back every year and make it into a bold
perennial. Good in groupings and masses, perennial and shrub borders, as

wet gardens.
