BLUE SATIN  Rose of Sharon

Hibiscus syriacus 'Marina' ppaf

This is true color.  Photo has not been modified.

Absolutely the best blue Hibiscus ever! It's large, single, rich blue flowers are certain to draw attention. Superior to 'Blue Bird' which is a weak growing plant that is notoriously mixed up in the market.

Blue Satin is a strong growing, uniform clone with rich color. Hybridized by Rien Verweij of the Netherlands.

AWARDS: Award of Recommendation Royal Boskoop Horticulture Society.

Introduced for the first time in the U.S. in the spring of 2000, it is still a rare plant.

USDA Zone 5-8.  Best to maintain 4" of organic mulch in colder climates.

5 to 8 feet by 5 to 6 feet wide, may be pruned to keep it a smaller shrub or trained into a small patio tree

Best in full sun! This beauty thrives in full sun and loves hot weather.

Uses: A versatile plant that can be used as a shrub or as a small tree. When grown as a shrub, cut in back hard every other spring to enjoy extra strong blooms. To culture this plant as a small tree cut it back hard in the spring. When the plant begins to grow, select out one stem to form the trunk, removing all other stems. Stake this stem and remove any side branching except at the very top of the stem which will form the head of the tree.

Adaptable to many soils, moderate moisture.

These plants have bloomed last summer in the nursery.  A beautiful sight that can be at home in your landscape!

This is a patented variety and all royalties have been paid.   Unauthorized propagation or sale of plant parts for propagation is prohibited by law.

Note that this does NOT come true from seed!  Beware of those selling seed for this variety!!

Container grown in 1 gallon pots.  Blooming size plants.  Cut back in fall for better branching.  Will bloom the year planted from a spring or summer planting.
