Caraway
Carum carvi

An easy to grow, spicy, culinary favorite. Biennial, forming the base plant the first year, then blooming and setting seed the second year. Can self sow.
Foliage is quite decorative, resembling a cross between a carrot and Queen Anne's lace.
Dried seeds are a popular ingredient in rye bread, meat seasonings, and pickled vegetables.
Sow from early through late summer to yield fresh seed the second year.
Harvest just as seed begins to ripen. Dry in paper bags on the stems. When dried, the seeds will 'shatter' off of the stems. Remove any foreign material by pouring seed from one container to another outdoors is a breeze allowing any chaff to blow away.
Medicinal use: Indigestion, flatulence, and colic.
Packet: 100 seeds.
