Red Maple

acer rubrum

Beautiful fall colors in a sturdy, quick growing tree.

Hardy Zones 3-9.  Moderate to fast grower.  40'-60' at maturity.  20'-30' wide

Some air pollution tolerance.  Good for city planting.

One of the first trees to show fall color

Flowers are red or orange and appear in late March and April.  Very showy.

Fruit are samaras, 0.75" long.   They often display some red color and ornamental appeal.

Best in full sun, but will tolerate partial shade.
