Ribbon Grass
(Gardener's Garters)
Phalaris arundinacea var. 'Feesey's Form’ (Strawberry & Cream)
Shown in back of gold Coreopsis and Purple Wave Petunia
Nearly white foliage; pink or reddish markings on new growth and early
in the season. Less aggressive than common form. Nicest of the ribbon grasses.
Makes a nice accent along decks and steps, borders, etc. The photo above
is the stairs to our deck. This is a southwest corner that gets very hot
in the summer. While we have to water the flowers, the grass survives and
flourishes on it's own. Very drought tolerant.
18-24 inches in height; space 1-2' apart. Flowers are insignificant. Best in full sun to partial shade; less vigorous in shade. Leaf color sometimes fades a little in full hot sun. Performs well in both dry and moist soils. Spreads rapidly. (Do not plant in areas where you do not want this to spread!) Easily divided.
Gallon size container grown plants: Shipped out of pot with root ball wrapped.
