• Dark green summer foliage turns reddish in the fall. The numerous red stems which rise from the ground provide striking color in winter.

• Very winter hardy!!  Zone: 2 to 8
  Light: Partial shade to full sun
  Moisture: Wet, moist, or dry
  Soil Type: Sandy, loam, or clay  Tolerates wide range of soil conditions. Although it is native to moist or swampy sites, it adapts well to drier conditions.
  Twig color is best on newest growth. To maintain nice red twig color, remove 1/3 of the stems (the oldest growth) at ground level each spring.
