Vanilla Spice™ Summersweet

Clethra alnifolia Vanilla Spice™ 'Caleb' US PPAF; Can. PBRAF

A delightful. deer resistant native plant that attracts butterflies and hummingbirds. The attractive, glossy dark green leaves set off the pure white summer flowers. Selected for its extra large flowers - individual florets are roughly double the size of other varieties.

Fragrant summer bloomer with extra large white flowers. Prune in spring if needed.

 Yellow fall color. Good for woodland settings, mixed borders.   Attracts butterflies.

Exposure:  Plant in sun or partial shade

Height:  36-72"

Spacing:  60-72"

Hardy Temp:  -30°F (-34°C) Zones 4-9

Growing Tips:  Prune to shape in late winter. Fertilize with a controlled release fertilizer in spring. Supplemental fertilizing with liquid fertilizer may be needed in summer. Tolerates damp soils.
